This may not be the biggest release week of the year, but we are expecting a few promising titles for both PCVR and the standalone Quest. Nothing to report for the PSVR this week but I personally can’t wait to jump into Alvo on Sony’s headset next week.
Whether you want to swing around a city ala Spiderman, become a traffic cop, or blast away at the bad guys, you’ll have some interesting choices this week. First up is an action-packed VR Shooter Headcount. At first glance, it looks a bit like CrisisVRgade with movement. It comes from developer Monochrome Inc and it enters Steam early access on April 7th. This is one old-school arcade shooter that looks worth checking out.
Next up is Swarm, coming to the Oculus Quest and Rift on April 8th. Swarm is from developer Greensky Games and is a fast-paced grapple shooter that sees you swinging from one platform to the next blasting waves of bad guys. This may sound like a vomit fest, but if it’s anything like Yupitergrad, it’ll be surprisingly smooth, and a helluva lot of fun.
Also on April 8th, you can try to control traffic in Traffic Jams. You can find this one on Steam in addition to a standalone version for the Oculus Quest. Apparently, the world of Traffic Jams doesn’t have traffic lights, but they do have road rage, unnatural disasters, and monsters. It sounds like a crap job, to be honest, but someones gotta do it. Apply for this job on April 8th.
Speedy Gun Savage from developer Gamitronics enters Steam early access on April 9. It’s a first-person shooter where you play as an intergalactic bounty hunter named wolf who has to protect baby Yoda from the bad guys. Okay, that last part isn’t true, but you will play as an intergalactic bounty hunter, which sounds pretty cool. The trailer has a fairly large emphasis on cinematics and the actual gameplay doesn’t show any locomotion at all, so that is something to keep in mind. The gunplay and the cinematics do look polished, however.
