PSVR Exclusive Golem Update 1.02 Adds Nav Controller and Left Hand Mode

After a four year wait for Golem to release on the PSVR, I was a little disappointed that I couldn’t play for more than 30 minutes a day. The game featured a head-tracked turning mechanic that made me sick no matter how much I tinkered with the comfort settings. I tried both the default movement system and the DS4, but neither alleviated the dizzyness. Cranking the much-hated blinders all the way up helped, but only a little bit.

Needless to say, I was very excited to read about Highwire Game’s latest patch. Aside from a left-hand Mode, it features a ton of control options that I was hoping would make this suitable for me to play. I’m excited to say that the new options are fantastic, and I urge anyone who stopped playing Golem due to motion sickness to give it another shot.

For me, I chose to use the new addition of the PS3 Nav Controller with very slow head-turning. I was going to turn it off entirely but I followed the developer’s advice to try the “very slow” option and it’s a perfect combo. With this option, your Golem turns very slightly when you turn your head, which feels very life-like. It allowed me to go from needing the blinders turned all the way up just to play for short periods, to be able to turn them off completely, which is how I play every other game.

It even made the default lean method of movement more comfortable. In fact, If I didn’t own a Nav Controller, I would probably forgo the DS4 and use the lean movement. But the Nav controller works so well and is very comfortable.
