If you’re a boxing fan and the proud owner of the Oculus Quest, you’re having a pretty busy month. The over-the-top arcadey Knockout League released last week, and now on October 24th you can pick up the Thrill of the Fight. Unlike Creed and Knockout League, The Thrill of the Fight is a hardcore boxing simulator. In VR, that means real boxing physics and full room-scale action. And you probably won’t be fighting an octopus.
The thrill of the Fight has been available on PCVR since 2016 and speaking to VRFitness Insider, developer Ian Fitz says that the full PC version of the game is available in the Quest port. Fitz continues, “the only really noticeable visual differences are that the player hit effect visuals had to be simplified and the crowd size had to be reduced.” Early word from those who have played the port echo these sentiments. Plus, a wireless setup would seem to offset any loss in visual flair considering the type of gameplay the Thrill of the Fight utilizes.
Just as on the PC, expect an extremely reasonable price point of $9.99 in the US and £7.99 in the UK. Plus, it’s a cross-buy title, so if you already own the PC version of this well-received boxing game, you’ll also own it on the Quest when it arrives on October 24th. If you’re still on the fence about investing in yet another VR boxing game, you’ll be able to read our review sometime next week.
