Is 2MD VR Football Coming to the Oculus Quest?

Another football Sunday in America has come and gone and I’m reminded once again of a question I ask myself every few days: why can’t I play 2MD VR Football wirelessly with my Oculus Quest? Don’t get me wrong, I love the current version of the game. I literally celebrated as if I won the actual Superbowl after throwing the touchdown pass that simultaneously won the championship and the platinum trophy on my trusty PlayStation VR.

My love for that version of the game is well documented, but it’s not just available for Sony’s headset. You can currently find 2MD VR Football on Steam for the Vive, Oculus Rift, and Windows Mixed Reality. The game is great on all of these platforms but none of them allow me to go out in my backyard, draw up plays, and toss the pigskin around. I mean sure, I could go throw the ball around with my son, but c’mon, he can only “go long!” so many times. But is that about to change?

I put the question to Truant Pixel, the developer and publisher of 2MD VR Football, and asked if they would consider offering the title on SideQuest as a workaround to Oculus’s overly aggressive gatekeeping. The answer wasn’t a straight yes, but it wasn’t a straight no, either. The developer simply stated, “rest assured we’re working on an idea here, more news soon.”

That, of course, could mean anything, but it has to mean more VR football is coming our way in some shape or form, right? I believe it does, and that has this football fan already practicing a new batch of touchdown celebrations.
